Ahoy Mate!

You’ve just discovered one of Merced’s little hidden treasures, Lake Yosemite! It’s a tiny lake, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, some might even call it a pond. But nay, shouldn’t say such a thing about this gem. She’s a joy to sail across her blue waters pushed along by a refreshing breeze. It’s a respite from the valley heat and a reprieve from toils of the day. Here it’s just us. I mean us as in friends, a boat, and the lake. We all come from different walks of life, a myriad of qualities and characters, but all with a unique story and a common interest. We invite you to join us too.

June 21 Update: All members with a slip and sailboat have been itching to moor their boats for the Summer and get out and sail. Great news! MID has notified LYSA that boats can go in beginning Friday, July 1st, just in time for the fourth of July weekend!  Happy Summer Sailing and let the Summer Race series begin (more to come on when first race will be).

The Club

Lake Yosemite Sailing Association is nestled on the eastern shore of the small, but picturesque, Lake Yosemite.  From the club patio stunning sunsets are a dime a dozen, but they seem worth so much more. Especially, when you’re here… with friends, old sailors, young sailors, and those just stopping by. Most Summer evenings it’s a reprieve from the valley heat, brought by a cool breeze rustling through the towering eucalyptus trees. But the club has a lot to offer, so check us out online or come on by. We are always looking to enlarge our circle of friends.

Racing

Have sailboat, will race! Isn’t that how it works? At least that’s how we see it at Lake Yosemite Sailing Association. Our club members have Merits, MacGregors, Catalinas, Windmills, and Lasers too. The Summer series is the PHRF beer can race that runs the Summer sailing season from May through September. The Summer Series is every Thursday evening with the first horn at 6:30pm. We also host the annual LYSA Spring Regatta which brings many sailors to the valley from the Bay area and elsewhere.  Come on out and race.

Sail Camp

Sail Camp is a learn to sail program for youth aged 8-16 and is held at Lake Yosemite Sailing Association’s (LYSA) clubhouse at Lake Yosemite. Multiple sessions are offered each season. Campers learn to sail on stable Capri 13 and FJ sailboats. Lasers are also available for advanced sailors. Campers do not need prior sailing experience, but must know how to swim. The camp is taught by experienced youth sailing instructors who make it a fun, rewarding experience for young sailors.
